Firebird

My car is stuck under 50 feet of snow.
Just when I thought I had found the right one my shovel broke.
The fractured heart of the dark is all I know.
I had a vision of a firebird when I woke.

Hold a light,

Hold a light for me.
I can feel the darkness coming
,
I need your help to see
.
I need your help to see
.

So here I am waiting in this beggars guise,
And the sun went down before the moon ever dreamt of opening her eyes.
Thought I saw a firebird winging its way out of this town
,
There’s hope out there, baby, don’t you listen to lies.

Hold a light,
Hold a light for me
.
I can feel the darkness coming
,
I need your help to see
.
I need your help to see
.

Thought I held a feather in my hand,
But the firebird flew away to some far away land.

The road is long and the night is moonless cold,
I’ve gotta find that bird before I grow bitter and old
.

Hold a light,
Hold a light for me
.
I can feel the darkness coming
,
I need your help to see
,
I need your help to see
.
